Skin Lesions

Skin lesions ranging from simple keratoses to the various forms of skin cancers.

Examples of Skin Lesions
Melanoma
Basal Cell Carcinoma
Post-excision

Diagnosis and Procedures - Lesions are evaluated by the surgeons by direct inspection, digital photography, and ultraviolet photography. These lesions may be fulgarated (removed with electric needle), excised, or treated with Co2 laser ablation with the Sharplan Feathertouch laser.

Treatment - Frequently, the treatment of these lesions can be provided at the time of the initial consultation. Sometimes, however, this cannot be facilitated to allow for the proper medical management of the patient prior to such a treatment. Specimens that are excised will be reviewed by board-certified pathologists and results will be available in approximately one week.

Preparation Prior to Visit - If a patient desires treatment at the time of the initial contact, a careful discussion of present medications should be given at the time of booking the consult. Usually, all medications that effect bleeding (aspirin, Motrin, Vit E and supplements) should be discontinued 2 weeks prior to treatment.

Skin Care After Lesion Treatment

After treatment a significant degree of attention has to be placed on proper skin care in an attempt to avoid future surgical treatment. In collaboration with Dr. Dabb, our Aesthetician will create an appropriate skin care solution tailored to each patient special needs.
